Unified ERP is a University System of Georgia (USG) initiative to implement shared finance and human resources (HR) platforms and processes across USG’s institutions. The program is designed around principles of standardization, simplification, and reducing fragmentation while improving consistency and scalability across the system.  

The Unified ERP program is currently progressing through design and configuration activities. It is planned to go live in July 2028. During this timeline, Georgia Tech is participating in planning, design reviews, testing preparation, and impact assessment activities. Additional information about implementation, milestones, and readiness activities will be communicated as they become available.   

One anticipated benefit of Unified ERP is that HR and finance information will exist within a common platform, reducing the need for manual reconciliation and crosswalks between systems. This is expected to improve coordination and enable data changes to be reflected more efficiently across related business processes. Specific process designs and timing impacts remain under development.  

Reporting capabilities are a key part of the Unified ERP design effort. Many stakeholders have asked about reports currently used in OneUSG Connect and other systems. Report design, reporting strategy, and data availability are still being evaluated through the program's design and configuration activities. Additional information will be shared as reporting decisions are finalized.  

Preliminary information indicates changes to worktags, numbering structures, reporting hierarchies, and data classifications. These changes may affect reporting, data structures, and how financial information is organized within Workday. Finance users and other stakeholders will receive communication, training, and support as details become available.

Budget-related capabilities are one of several areas currently being reviewed as part of the Financials design process. Budget controls have been identified as a potential impact area; however, final decisions, implementation approaches, and transition planning are still being evaluated through the Unified ERP program.  

Data readiness is a major focus area of the program. Georgia Tech has identified data stewardship, data cleanup, security, and system remediation roles to support implementation activities. Data preparation efforts will continue throughout the project to help support future conversion and testing activities.  

Stakeholders have asked how historical data will be handled after implementation. Data conversion and mapping activities are currently being evaluated as part of the overall implementation approach. More information regarding historical data access, reporting, and migration practices will be shared as decisions are reached.  

Workday is expected to use structured, system-driven workflows with defined roles, approvals, and security permissions. Stakeholders have specifically asked about purchasing approvals, ad hoc approvals, and other business processes. Additional workflow examples and demonstrations will be provided as future-state designs continue to mature.
